One of my favorite trips I took in 2022, was Santorini. We went for July 4th weekend, and the 8 of us had a blast. There were some hiccups to some of the travel of course. But in the end we all had a great experience and I got to see a place I’ve been dreaming of since I was little. The white and blue buildings amongst the clear blue water is so breathtaking I had to remind myself I was actually there. If I go back I would like to stay in one of the really nice AirBnB’s with a private pool on the deck. So nice. I saw a few walking by and it just looked like a wonderful way to spend a week in Santorini!

Santorini is a magical place, with it’s blue waters and interesting history, it has tons to offer it’s tourists. An earthquake and a volcano eruption in 1956, was so devastating most of the locals left due to poverty and destruction. Over the years tourism has helped build back some of the economy. You can really see the care and effort the locals have put in to make Santorini one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. So many people go for family vacations, honeymoons and the island has even been used as movie sets like in Mama Mia.

The place we stayed at was perfect for our group, it had 10 beds for 8 of us, with 2 full bathrooms and a kitchen. The pool was also really nice outside the hotel, and the host’s were very helpful during our stay. The pool had a small bar open during pool hours, and we could order in food from the kitchen if we didn’t feel like going to any restaurants. Down the street from the house, was a beach bar and restaurant, it was so neat. On the weekends they have beach parties, full with a DJ and tables you could purchase for your group. Here is the link for where we stayed on Booking.com..
We tried a few restaurants, there are so many to choose from. Our first night we went to Kaliyah, this place was recommended due to it’s views of the sunsets, a tourist favorite. I had the salmon and mashed potatoes, with a s’mores cake for desert and it was so good. The outdoor seating was just right for the sunsetting and we had a blast drinking and talking. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

On one of the weekend days, I booked a catamaran tour of the island, it was such a great way to see the whole island and swim in some of the waters. Each stop the boat made, we were able to get out and swim. They also made us a meal on board complete with bbq chicken and beef on a stick, salad, and the boat had a bar with wine and some beers. The crew were so much fun, they danced with the people on board and just made the whole experience worth it.
